Back to the Grind

As per usual, Monday morning was rushed. For breakfast I had a Kashi Dark Chocolate Coconut barand half a grapefruit
I snacked later on half a Blueberry Crisp Clif
I surprised myself by liking this one. I don't usually like fruit flavored granola bars. I prefer muffins or the real thing!
I dragged my butt to the gym today. Was so not feeling it, but once I was there everything was fine. Isn't that always the case?
For lunch I packed an enchilada and a half, plus extra tomatilla sauce. I listened to my senses and only ate a whole enchilada. 2/3 of the below picture. It was so tasty. On the side I ate a carrot and a few grape tomatoes.I missed my hummus, although the carrots and tomatoes didn't really need it. Very good produce.
I was super-snacky today, and I think it was all due to being very tired. I had almonds and puffins. Sorry for the recycled pics, I have no excuse.Dinner was a success. I made a pasta with broccoli and shrimp. It was topped with pecorino romano, and liberally spiced with red pepper flakes and roasted garlic. Yum!
This post has to be a little short because Mr. Beans needs to further his education and write a paper!
'Til next time - check out the fruit basket my mater bought me. Wasn't that sweet? Nice pears too! I can't wait to eat them.

'Bani, 'Sagna, and Tater

This title is either my eats for the day, abbreviated, or a hillbilly sorority. You Decide!
Is is only Thursday?
Update: The neti pot seems to have helped, although I might take another waterboarding session tonight.

Breakfast:
This morning I had yogurt, honey, granola, coffee, and cantaloupe. This was starting the day right! Chobani 0% with super nutty granola, local Louisiana honey, Italian Blend coffee, and a juicy if somewhat bland cantaloupe.
I forgot to snack today! The gnawing feeling started when I was at the gym. Oops. My performance was good, but I got a little nauseated and thirsty.
Lunch:
I more than made up for the calories at lunch! Leftover homemade lasagna for the win! It looks kind of gross in this picture, but trust me, it was to die for.On the side: a lovely spinach salad with yellow bell pepper, grape tomatoes, black olives, walnuts, and a hunk of feta cheese. My mom's version of this salad is better - she makes one with just tomatoes, cucumbers, onions, bell peppers, and salty black olives. A little olive oil, vinegar, s&p. No lettuce. This is what I wanted (it goes well with pasta), but I didn't have those ingredients.
It worked out to be a lovely lunch. The above lasagna is 1.5 servings, and yes I ate it all! Don't hate.
Snack time later in the day: I ate a Luna Peanut Butter Cookie. This was free from drugstore.com - wahoo! - when I made my last order. I thought they just really liked me, but they sent my mom the same sample.Pros/Cons:
Pro: The flavor was awesome. I love a real peanut butter taste, and I thought they delivered.

Con: I don't like the crispiness of the Luna so much. It's too much like a rice crispy treat.
(The way I talk I sound like I have some serious gum problems, but I just really like soft and chewy bars, not hard or crispy).

For the record I've only had one other Luna, and didn't really like it (S'mores flavor). This was definitely better. This PB cookie has piqued my interest enough to want to try one of their hundred other flavors.

Dinner was a baked potato. This potato was so huge! I weighed it before cooking and it was over a pound. Needless to say I cut it in half after baking it.
Toppings: plain nonfat greek yogurt (Voskos brand), green onions, and a slice of pan fried deli ham. It was yummy! I'm glad I didn't attempt to eat over a pound of potato.
Before dinner I snacked on a few Smokehouse almonds.**I'm going to Neti and call it a night.**

Lentil Soup Redux

Breakfast: I started with the last of the cantaloupe. It was still fresh and firm. I also had Oikos 0% and Peanut Butter Puffins.
The Oikos I'm a little disappointed in. It's not as thick and mousse-like as Fage. Either I need to upgrade to 2% or stick to Fage when it's on sale. I'm going to try all the brands before I settle on one. The peanut butter puffins were addictive.

This might be my favorite breakfast combination: fruit, yogurt, and granola or cereal. Of course, I also love biscuits, grits and eggs, but I find that a lighter breakfast feels better on my stomach.
Snack: banana and clif bar
I worked out at 11:30. My sciatica was killing me today. Oy vey!

Lunch: a hefty serving of homemade lentil soup. It was even better today. It's such a colorful soup with the corn, tomatoes, carrots, and green onions. The andouille sausage I added was super tasty, and if I make this recipe again I will use a whole link. Unless, of course, I make it for vegetarians. The cheese on top was so good. It was a 6 cheese blend of Mozzarella, romano, fontina, provolone, asiago, and parmesan. I am definitely a delayed gratification eater. I save the best bits for last. This is not always the case, but I usually eat what I like in reverse order. I find it more satisfying.
If I get full before I can eat any more I save it for later. This doesn't happen as often as it did when I was a kid, but it does happen.
I was "known" as a child for refusing dessert just because I was full. I think what helped was my mother would save me a slice of pie or cake for the next day to eat, so I never felt like I was going to miss out, and thus shove unwanted cake in my face when I was in reality full. I had a better understanding of my fullness factor when I was a kid.
Afternoon snack: almonds

Dinner: I remembered the leftover rice, gravy, and roasted vegetables from the other day when I roasted chicken.
Still very very tasty. I also ate maybe half a cup of lentil soup.Expect to see another appearance (or two) of the lentil soup.

On Another Note:
Earlier this evening, when I was cleaning the kitchen, I reached into a spoon drawer when something jumped at me! It was a baby anole! Anoles are a type of lizard common in Louisiana and the southeastern states. Here he is in my 1/3 measuring cup, being transported outside. He was almost translucent, with big feet and big brown spots for eyes. I'm used to seeing green, brown, and a rare white anole.
He's so tiny!Sweet escape (this was a second before he leaped to freedom).I forgot to add - this was the first day of maybe fall weather we've had this year. It was under 80 degrees with very little humidity! The air was crisp and clear, and almost everyone had a spring in their step. It was exciting - I love fall and will take whatever I get.
