Today was fairly typical. I woke up and dragged my butt to work. After a couple of hours of drinking coffee and feeling my stomach rumble, I had my usual oatmeal. I like to call it “Larabar Oats” because of the dates and walnuts. Simple pleasures, my friends.
For lunch I had leftover meatballs and spaghetti.
It was even better today. Homemade is where it’s at! Of course I say that, and only the meatballs are homemade. The sauce is Newman’s Own Sockarooni (why mess with perfection?) and Barilla whole wheat pasta. I’ve made pasta from scratch once in my life and that was enough for me.
After the pasta I wanted something to cleanse my palate, so I ate a whole grapefruit. It was about the size of a large navel orange.
It was slightly messy to eat it peeled, but fun. I used to never eat grapefruit, but in the past few years have really developed a taste for bitter foods.
Around 2:00 I had orange spice tea. And to continue my citrus theme, I took a photo of my new obsession: Badger Cocoa Butter Lip Balm (Sweet Orange flavor). It is so addicting!
I have a long day at work, and around 4:00 I wanted another snack, even though the end of the day was close. So I dug into my bar stash and got a Luna bar.
It was gone in about 4 seconds. What is it with me and chocolate this week?
For dinner I had white bean, kale, and andouille soup.
I think I’ll make this again. The beans are so creamy and the kale holds up really well.
After dinner I snacked on a few almonds and a third of a (somewhat) dark chocolate Dove bar. Must stop eating.
10 points if you spot the frog in this picture. Hee!

Yup, I've made homemade pasta once too, and that was plenty! Impressed with the homemade meatballs though--they look delicious!
Love your "Larabar oats"! And I often use fruit to cleanse my palate, too!
